Convair YF-2Y “Sea Dart”

On Loan from National Naval Aviation Museum, Pensacola, FL.

This aircraft was part of a series of only five aircraft contracted by the Navy as a new prototype concept for a jet-powered seaplane. The aircraft first flew in late December 1954. However, multiple tests determined the aircraft was unreliable and the project was cancelled. This aircraft never saw military service and was retired in 1962. The Museum acquired this rare aircraft in 1987 and put it on display after a complete restoration. It is one of the most historically significant aircraft in the collection.
